Arches National Park Geology Tour HD provides an illustrated and narrated introduction to the geology of Arches National Park for the iPad. Illustrations, animations, and photos by Dennis Tasa are narrated by geologist Deborah Ragland, Ph.D. of the University of New Mexico, Taos.
This version has been designed to take full advantage of the iPad screen size and user interface features. Large photos show details of the geology of the park. Maps and illustrations make learning about the geology fun and interesting.

THE GEOLOGY VIEW
Provides high resolution illustrations, animations, and photographs of the geology of the park. Viewers are introduced to the geologic history of the Colorado Plateau. Forces and processes that shaped the geology of the park are illustrated and described. Arch formation is explained and illustrated. A Geologic Map and Stratigraphic Column for the park are included.
THE TOUR VIEW
Photos of many of the park features are presented as if you were driving along the roads in the park. A list of locations is displayed in a popover window so that you can easily find a feature of interest. Several photos have additional annotations to help illustrate the geology.
THE MAPS VIEW
Provides the National Park Service park map and the corresponding USGS topographic map. These maps can be enlarged for more detail. Touch points on the map take you to the corresponding photo in the Tour View. The Geologic Map and Stratigraphic Column are available in popover windows for easy reference.
EASY TO USE:
The app makes full use of pinching, zooming, swiping, and orientation flipping. Swipe or use the arrow buttons to advance through the geology topics and tour photos. Narration is available with standard play buttons on the toolbar.
COMPLETELY SELF-CONTAINED:
No internet connection is required after download. Use it to plan your trip or supplement your visit as you tour the park. Ideal for geologists and students in the classroom or in the field.
